It's a nice spacious venue (see pic below of the band on before us called Sarah Johns Music Party)

This week I am back in London rehearsing both an acoustic set and full band sets for all forthcoming gigs. Today was spent in Mike's studio running through the acoustic set adding in new arrangements to the existing songs. We will try this all out for real at a gig tomorrow night at 93 Feet East in London. Tomorrow daytime I'll be rehearsing with the full band back over in Shephards Bush.

The build up to the tour...

Over the next couple of weeks, things will be starting to hot up for the full UK Stranglers tour with Mike Marlin.
I have just given my piano some love and attention making sure everything is working as it should.

Monday 13th Feb see's Mike, Jim (Drums) and myself getting together in London for a day of rehearsals tightening up and rearranging some of the songs for all forthcoming acoustic shows. Tuesday 15th sees the whole band get together once again for a full run through the tour set list numerous times! In the evening, Mike, Jim and I will be playing an acoustic set at 93 Feet East in London. On Wednesday 16th, Mike's album will be released. There will be a gig at Concrete in London to promote this and to announce the winner of Mike's new single video promo competition.

After all this...things will be gearing up for the first gig of the tour at Leeds 02 Academy on March 1st 2012

Full band rehearsals start this week in London for the forthcoming Mike Marlin UK and Europe tours supporting The Stranglers (see gig list opposite).

The band consists of Mike Marlin on main vocals and guitar, Jim Macaulay (Envy & Other Sins, Malpas, Emmy The Great) on Drums and BV's, Jonas Jalhay (Jessie J, Pixie Lott, Lady Sovereign, The Saturdays) on Guitar and BV's, Fabio Cascio ( Absolute Bowie) on Bass and BV's and me on Piano/Synths and BV's.

I have been asked to be musical director for a new play that will begin to take shape towards the end of 2009. The plan is to eventually get the play with my music up to showcase at Edinburgh Fringe in 2010. I have complete say on the music so it is nice to build something that i see fit.

This Saturday 8th Aug I have been asked to play keys/piano again for The Wildhearts frontman Ginger. Our 10pm slot headlines the Trash Stock all dayer at Nottingham's Seven venue. As we speak I am currently running through the 14 track set list :-)

The venue was packed out as you can imagine and was a great experience spending the day with the band. Black Spiders were on the bill too who are destined for big things. I loved their set. My fingers are crossed for more work with him.

I have been working on a full production album over the past few months but it all came to a halt recently after not quite feeling the vibe on certain tracks. I came to the decision recently to not force things for the sake of it. After all, there is nothing worse than knocking out an album of songs that you aren't too proud of.

However, not all is lost...from next month, I will releasing a new 12 track acoustic album to keep those who are waiting happy! The whole concept titled 'Piano & Voice'...is, well, just piano and vocal. Nothing more. Nothing Less. Simplicity at its best. I have written 8 new songs and decided to re-record some of my old favourites including 'Let It Go', 'Join Together', 'I Won't Conform' and 'Positivity'.

The whole album was recorded in my home studio over a period of a few hours. This is how my career began all those years ago, so it is very refreshing to go back to that level of production.

Updates on the release date of 'Piano & Voice' will be posted here as soon as it's all done and dusted.

Following his past life as an MC, he has bought elements of this into his new solo project. I am currently producing his first ever 3 track demo that will be used to get him gigs and to showcase him around industry contacts. The overall sound is in a similar vein to that of Jamie T and Kate Nash. All great stuff!!
